Title : How Open Licenses Affect User Experience
Abstract:
Free/open source software is often criticized for its usability. However, the *license itself* actually has an impact on we interact with computers. In this talk, I'll describe how open licenses affect the experience of using computers today. I'll outline new opportunities these licenses create for computing, and also describe some of the primary new challenges that result from open licenses, completely independent from how the software is developed.
