When it comes to interpretation or control, assigning physical meaning to the states of the HMM can be problematic. This situation can be overcome by including high-level information in the inference process. The result is the so-called "Structural" HMM. In this talk I will briefly present the formalism and applicable parameter inferencing techniques. TPPIC:rgesteve.jpg DIONE:CGL, HCI, and Crysp labs are invited by Craig to do lab tours on Sunday, August 23rd for approximately 40 high school teachers. DITWO:The thunderstorm on Sunday brought down CGL servers and an old computer, the one that runs the serial console, died. DITHREE:Be careful when walking in the machine room. DIFOUR:Upcoming conferences: Eurographics, September 14; CHI, September, 17; IUI, September 25; and call for papers on illustrative visualizations, Craig has details.
