Title : Direct Manipulation of Isohedral Tiling Vertices
Abstract:
Shapes that tile the plane isohedrally are made up of edges where tiles abut their neighbours, which are in turn bounded by tiling vertices. Editing the shapes of the edges is easy because they can be manipulated freely; editing the locations of the tiling vertices is difficult because their positions are coupled via a low-dimensional tiling vertex parameterization. I will show how we can support some amount of direct manipulation of tiling vertices by solving for suitable adjustments to the parameterization in response to changes to a vertex's position.
