Title : Mathematical cross-stitch
Abstract: Cross-stitch is a traditional craft that happens to be well suited to the expression of ideas in mathematics and computer graphics. I will discuss a recent project in which I adapted ideas from traditional cross-stitch in order to create a "symmetry sampler" that depicts patterns belonging to 14 of the 17 planar symmetry groups. |
