Title : Trajectories in Freehand Animation
Abstract: Computer animation software provides cubic curves to control trajectories in computer animations. Little justification is given for this choice of cubic curves, and the use of cubics poses a variety of problems for users of computer animation software. The statistical study of motion in traditional (hand drawn) animation reveals that traditional animators used a subset of cubic curves in their animations. Incorporating these curves into computer animation software should ease some of the burdens of creating computer animations. |
