Title : CDs, CDSs and CDOs
Abstract: Computer scientists have a lot of responsibility to take: for good and for bad. Today's talk might be called `The Sorceror's Apprentice', because it's about a practice dear to computer science, abstraction, a result of which computer scientists are proud, speeding up transaction processing, bad computer science posing as good, numerical simulation, and how they all got together to destroy the world as we know it, including my pension. |
