The Segmented Scan Vector Data-Parallel Programming Model

A scan operation is a data-parallel operation that computes all the partial sums of a vector with respect to some associative operator. A segmented form of this, in conjunction with segmented reduction operators, supports a general parallel programming model that can support recursively nested parallelism and data-parallel operations on irregular and nested data structures.
