Twisted Alexander polynomials and surjectivity of a group homomorphism
Abstract:
If phi: G-->G' is a surjective homomorphism, we prove that the twisted
Alexander polynomial of G is divisible by the twisted Alexander
polynomial of G'. As an application, we show non-existence of
surjective homomorphism between certain knot groups.
5. General Discussion Items
- Bill: Nemo has been compromised, and there may or may not be a problem
with Kurr, if Kurr still exists. In any case, Nemo will be removed
from the network, wiped, and re-installed.
- Bill: Reminders about lab duties, and descriptions of the specific
tasks entailed by those duties, will be sent out soon.
- Celine: High School students will be visiting CGL on Friday at
around 3:00. Feel free to be there to give demos.
