Title: A Method for Creating Dynamic and Interactive Texts
Abstract: For centuries, we have grown accustomed to the printed word and its static nature. For this reason, much effort is placed on trying to reproduce this quality in today's digital documents. On the other hand, we can also focus on what new possibilities the digital medium can allow us to bring to text. Is there a place for dynamic and interactive text, something that has never before been possible? I will present ActiveText, a library which attempts to do just that. I will also demonstrate the use of ActiveText in two prototype applications, It's Alive and TextOrgan.
