Title: Houdini - The Swiss army knife of the CGL student

Abstract: Graduate graphics students often find useful to have some snippets of graphics code handy. For example, people around the lab may have code to read/write meshes in some format, some basic image processing, splines code, mesh simplification code, bump-map code etc. Such snippets of code are sometime useful to simplify projects and thesis work. Despite of its intimidating look, Houdini can be trivially used for a relatively large set of such small scale graphics problems.
