Title: Rayleigh Scattering
Abstract: I will be discussing the effect of Rayleigh scattering which
is the scattering of light by particles considerably smaller than the wavelength
of light. I will be talking a little bit about its history, some
theoretical foundation and then show its application in atmospheric models.
5. General Discussion Items
-
Lab meeting time for next term (Mike)
-
Mike had booked the lab meeting in DC 1304 from 1:30 to 2:30 pm?
-
(Can't get the room on January 21st or March 31st)
-
This time isn't good for Bill/Celine and Craig/Steve. Will try 12:30-1:30pm
instead.
6. Action List
-
Christmas Party, December 12th
-
Bill's house, after 7pm, potluck.
-
Lab Rearrangement
-
News:
- The (A?) SGI console has been moved out of the animation room
and a Sun has been put in its place.
- If you don't like using the sun machines because you dislike the
window manager, you can rlogin (set the machine) to snug when logging in
and then you will be able to use gnome as your window manager.
- Rob suggests building a room divider in the lab out of toasters
-- this will warm up the lab =)
- Please send any suggestions or requests regarding lab arrangement
to Bill and Craig -- they want your suggestions
- This will now become an ongoing (weekly) item so we will add it
to the lab cleanup section (which is also supposed to be an ongoing thing..
not just on Wednesdays after the lab meeting!)
-
qMail Conversion
-
Steve wondered about the director's mailing list (which apparently isn't
working since the switch). Rob said he's been working on it and hopefully
it should be back up and working.
-
Bill mentioned that someone had problems sending him mail this past
Monday. Rob will look into that too after Bill forwards him the messages.
