Title:

Appearance Standards in Computer Graphics

Abstract:

I will be discussing the application of appearance standards, such as gloss and haze, to light reflection models. The appearance industry has developed several standards to quantify surface reflection using a minimal set of measurements employing relatively inexpensive measurement devices. These measurements can be used to set the parameters of existing reflection models without the expensive of gonioreflectometer traditionally used to acquire reflection data.
