Title:

Deep Shadow Maps

Abstract:

Shadow maps are not suitable to handle primitives like hair, fur, and smoke. Deep shadow maps is a technique that overcomes this problem in a simple and elegant way. This technique also has other advantages like prefiltering, support to partially transparent surfaces as well as volumetric objects. It also handles motion blur at no extra cost. This talk is based on a SIGGRAPH 2000 paper by T. Lokovic and E. Veach.
