Title:
Constrained Dynamics
Abstract:
A common approach when trying to model complicated non-rigid objects in an environment is to represent the object using a collection of particles. The movement of the particles are then simulated by applying elementary physics.

By imposing certain constraints between particles, it is hoped the behaviour of the modelled non-rigid object will be properly simulated. These inter-particle constraints, however, make the computation of the movement of the particles non-trivial.

In this talk I will discuss constrained dynamics, a method ideal for computing the movement when inter-particle constraints are inelastic. Inelastic constraints cause serious problems for some other approaches.
