- Title:
- Physical Access of Input Devices for Augmentative and Alternative Communication
- Abstract:
-
Patients of various physical and cognative capabilities
and communication needs rely on computers or computer-like
devices for assistance. However, they are often challanged
in accessing this assistance through the limitations in their
capabilities.
This talk will focus on a variety of input methods which these
patients may employ in order to interact with assisting communication devices.
Special attention will be placed on physical limitations and how they
couple with input devices. An overview will be given of the
hierarchical process of assessment and the pragmatics of specific situations
that are used in practical settings to match a patient with
an input method.
