TPABSTRACT:While triangle meshes are well-known as a representation for shapes going back to the earliest days of computer graphics, their use for dynamically evolving surfaces is less common and introduces interesting geometric challenges, especially when it comes to supporting merging and splitting (i.e., topological changes).
