TPABSTRACT:User interfaces are constructed in the least formal wayimaginable: feature is piled upon feature without much thought of overall coherence. Yet the undo feature, which is regarded as essential in modern interfaces, gives a user interface the formal structure of a group. This talk explores the consequences.
